Katy Schroeder

Dr. Katy Schroeder is an Assistant Professor at Tech Texas Tech University, in the Department of Animal and Food Sciences.  She received her B.A. in Sociology at the University of Delaware and her M.S. in Counseling at Oregon State University-Cascades.  She completed her Ph.D. in Counseling at Oregon State University. Dr. Schroeder’s research broadly explores human-animal interactions, with a special focus on human-equine relationships and equine-assisted interventions in counseling settings.  She is a lifelong equestrian, with a professional background in the training and management of Three-Day Eventing horses.  She is a National Certified Counselor, as well as a certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor and Equine Specialists in Mental Health and Learning with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship, International (PATH, Intl.).
