Orla Doherty Dip ES MVB MSc PhD MRCVS

Dr. Orla Doherty qualified as a vet from University College Dublin (UCD) in 1992 before completing a Master’s Degree in Animal Behaviour and Animal Welfare at Edinburgh University. Orla completed a PhD at the University of Limerick in 2016 on tack usage in horses, and recently completed an Australian Diploma in Equitation Science. Since 1994 Orla has been running the Animal Behaviour Clinic, a veterinary referral behaviour clinic treating problem behaviours in horses, dogs and cats. Orla lectures and gives workshops and clinics to veterinary surgeons, horse owners, riders and trainers in Ireland and abroad and is also currently carrying out research into animal behaviour and monitoring animal welfare in Dublin Zoo. Orla is an Associate Lecturer at University College Dublin, lecturing veterinary and veterinary nursing students, and also lectures at the University of Limerick, on equine behaviour and behaviour problems, and provides expert witness advice in legal cases regarding animal behaviour.
